Thanks Blooz. Before getting married, we promised each other that we would never consider divorce, but rather work it out. I realize that things happen between couples, but we've never seriously thought about divorce. On the other hand, murder ...

I hear you. It's not really funny, but among the friends I have who are either divorced or widow(er)ed, the consensus is that death of a partner is easier to handle than divorce. There is closure in death. In divorce, that other who blames you (for whatever) is still there to remind you of your failures. Believe me, it's tempting. I'm lucky she didn't know any gangsters…

Going on year 22 here. And while we've threatened each other with divorce, it's never been serious... (I think ;-)

Congratulations on your long and hopefully happy relationship. Laying down ground rules before you get it is wonderful, but the only recourse is still the same. Its really a shame that the only marriages that arent considered failures mean someone has died, and not by the hand of the other!
