Reviewer in WSJ said there were distracting plot holes. You concur?

SyFy had on Aliens last night. Hadn't seen it in years.

And the writing and characters really were pretty lame. thumbs down

It deserves to be thought of as the worst of the three (now four.)

From what I've read, there is no plot. There's a story and some nice scenery. But I can tell you whether that's accurate if you give me a few hours...

I tried to read the book, but couldn't suspend my disbelief THAT far... and the trailer looked pretty silly, but MAYBE fun...

That is pretty much the review I got from my daughter who saw it last night.

we saw MIB3 tonight, in 2D.

while i did get emotional later in the film (no spoilers), i realized that many movies are relying on 3D to carry them, where in the past it was story, pacing, and acting.

not that this was bad, but it felt slow somehow.

My two word review:

Absolutely terrible.

It's a series of disjointed scenes bound loosely with a couple of threads and scripted by a 10 year old kid who has seen nothing but Alien movies and AI.

The scenery's good. Noomi Rapace is cute.

But the rest stinks so bad that I wonder whether the editors wore gas masks while cutting.

I love it when there is no middle ground in movie opinion. Then you KNOW it's either BRILLIANT or the worst movie ever...

Play the odds. Brilliance comes once in a generation.

...

Edit:

Seriously. 'Didn't need him to point it out. Every second line of dialog had some mistake or discontinuity, but that one was especially jarring.

It makes me sad that some people have such a hard time enjoying things. But it makes me grateful that i don't.

Funny, but I think that brilliance is a lot more common than once a generation - at least in film making. And I don't often see roger ebert granting 4 stars to outright duds... it NEVER happens...

Agreed. I'm going to see it in a couple hours; looking very forward to it.

I haven't based my movie-going on reviewers in ages. Though I have to admit, they hit the nail on the head with The Last Airbender. smiling smiley

He likes striking visuals and costumes. It's a well-known weakness of his.

He gave The Cell, King Kong, Sweeney Todd, Touching the Void, Polar Express, Marie Antoinette (The Kirsten Dunst/Jason Schwartzman version) and Signs 4 stars.

3.5 Stars to the Phantom Menace.

I respect the guy, but he's got a far from perfect record.

Pobody's nerfect. Eight missed calls in twelve years isn't bad.... All the same, if you've got a reviewer you like with a better record, i'm sure the forum would be interested! I know i would be.

I look forward to seeing in a movie theater. Should be fun.

But I'm not going to walk in with über high expectations.
