Prayers and best wishes heading your way.

My wife is a pediatric ICU nurse, she is more than willing to help parents of patients feel informed and feel like they are part of the team. I think ICU nurses have a knack for understanding and helping people cope when things aren't going well. Feel free to lean on them for support if you need to.

I did it appear that I was going to be in the market for a new wife. When one of the doctors came into the room yesterday morning and saw how badly things had gone since the previous day, his comment was WOW.

Is that a clinical term?

Thank you everyone. Things were heading south quite rapidly. Things are looking much better now.

My best wishes to you Maco, very close friend of mine has been in hospital 8 days now with the past 5 of them in ICU on a ventilator. As others have mentioned ICU is both a miraculous and frightening place where one is made painfully aware of the frailty of our existence. It is also a difficult emotional roller coaster that one never forgets. My heart goes out to you and I hope your wife makes a speedy and full recovery from whatever put her in such dire circumstances.

Good luck for tomorrow. Get some sleep tonight, because in a step-down unit or regular room, the nurses aren't going to be on her 24/7 like in the ICU. You are going to have to be her eyes, ears, and mouth to let others know what is going on with her.

Good luck for the continued recovery. Agree with taking care of yourself. You are going to be responsible for taking care of her for a while and you can't do that if you are admitted to the hospital yourself.grinning smiley
