1st for me - received the wrong item from eBay seller

Opened a package today to find a Pentax DSLR which was confusing. Looked at my recent eBay purchases and figured out which seller it came from and found their eBay auction for the DSLR.

But the DSLR is less than a third the value of the auction I actually won. I wonder what the seller will do (I already messaged them to ask). I wonder if the recipient of my item will realize their potential good fortune and what they'll do...

It will depend on the honesty of the other recipient.

This has happened to me two times -- in which I received the wrong pair of shoes from a seller. The seller reimbursed me and the other buyer for the postage necessary to achieve a mutual exchange and all were happy.

Of course, camera equipment is much more re-sellable than shoes.

Old friend of many years stayed with us for a week when doing lectures at UCLA and sent a gift of 4 very nice wine glasses when he got home in Spokane, WA. Amazon errored and sent a Milwaukee portable bandsaw with 4 1/2" throat.........value $350. I still have it and never turned it on. Who needs this tool?
And how do you explain the receipt. It does have the name and address correct. I'm thinking metal fabricators, pool fences and the such. Bigger than a camera and shipping is huge.

I don't understand why you wouldn't have advised Amazon of their error. That is the right thing to do.

Several years ago I ordered a 32 Gig thumb drive for a christmas present. What I got was a "box" of 32 Gig thumb drives. I let Amazon know of this error but never heard back from them.

Well I heard back from the eBay seller. He still had my item, so he'll send it and a shipping label for the camera.

As a seller, I've done that a couple of times. Once a fellow did all that I asked and returned a computer worth $500 more than he paid for. He was almost insulted when I thanked him for doing the right thing. The other time, the lucky one simply never replied to any contact - jerk!
