13 Air - two monitors?

I have a 13 inch Air, maybe 9 months old - can it run two 27 inch Apple monitors, one through Thunderbolt, and one off the display port? I have it running a two-year old Apple monitor, and would get a new 27 inch with the Thunderbolt if it would run them both well.

I am not doing intense graphics, just writing in InDesign and Pages mostly. But I need more space for all the various windows I have open simultaneously.

A 2011 Air doesn't have both a display port and a Thunderbolt port. Just one TB port that also works as a mini display port.

I have not grid mine, so this is not 100%, but the word is that the 2011 Air's TB port is more limited than the same vintage MBP. Although you can daisy-chain 2 apple monitors to the 1 TB port on a MPB, only one is possible with the MB Air.

OMG, I was hallucinating. For some reason, I was sure it had a TB port. And I just looked and it doesn't. Oh well, there are 4 Macs in this room, maybe that is an excuse, no matter how lame.

Pssst. As bik mentioned, it should have a Thunderbolt port. It only has one and the single port can't support more than one monitor.

True, but I though acceleration wasn't supported? That used to be a big problem anyway, at least when it came to my needs for a secondary display.

Duh x 2.

I just unplugged it from the Apple monitor and examined the plug, and it IS Thunderbolt.

If I use a USB connection to drive another monitor, will it be laggy?

Most ThunderBolt ports will support 2 Thunderbolt monitors, but the MBA had the version of the chip that only supports one display.
