Finally joined the SSD club

Installed a 240 GB SSD that was on sale a few weeks back at Amazon.

Installation in my 2007 MacBook Santa Rosa was easy peasy. Did a clean install of 10.6.8. Enabled TRIM support with a patch I found on the interwebs.

While I was at it, I maxxed out the RAM to 6 GB.

Faster start up and apps open immediately.

The MacBook isn't my main computer but I figure I can get another year or two out of it before I replace it.

Now to install an SSD into my Gen 1 Mac Pro.

I think those white MacBooks with SSD upgrades are really nice machines. Nearly indestructible and work well for basic interweb functions.

My grandkids are still using my 2006 CD 2.0 MB that has a 4 yr old SSD in it. Runs SL. They use MS Office 2011, iPhoto, iTunes, Dropbox. It has that shred video system, so not much streaming

Mr. Curmudgeon, on Mountain Lion.

I joined the club a few weeks ago. The performance improvements in my late 2009 Mini have been remarkable, especially when my Mac wakes from sleep or launches an app.

I think your optical drive interface is IDE based, so you'll have to do the IDE/ATA to SATA conversion:

If you are installing an SSD as a boot drive from an IDE interface, I'd be tempted to use one in an external 2.5" FW800 case and use duct tape. Probably just as fast and doesnt mess with anything inside.

Or stick one of the hard disks in the optical bay.
Or get an eSATA PCI adapter ...
