The miniSTACK is BACK, Jack!

Anyone else see the message from OWC Larry this afternoon? Nice!

I don't have a mini but have been contemplating a 2TB or 3TB external backup for the hackintosh.
Definitely want USB3, and not only that, the new miniSTACK is quad interface, also allowing for eSATA!

My old v2 Ministack served me well, tempted now to go with the new hotness...

Great looking and everything, but too limiting.

USB 3 and eSATA are great for adding connections but they are bottle-necked by having to be transferred via FW800.

original miniStacks were 10X better offering FW and USB hubs.

hopefully theres a model in the works with a USB 3 hub built in, otherwise...

I saw it on their website a couple days ago but I noticed there was no Thunderbolt :-( I tried to buy a Ministack V3 on
eBay a few months ago and man were they going high.

Well, I hope for the sake of Larry's pediatrician bills and mortgages that there are a bunch of potential takers out there who aren't as persnickety as us.

That's a good point. I'd buy one if it connected to the mini via T-bolt and had an optical bay. For $85.

This one: [www.newertech.com], unfortunately I'm sure it'll be more than $85 and still no "hub" feature like all the previous miniStacks, as jdc pointed out.

Zero bottleneck on a hackintosh that has USB3 (or new Mac with USB3) and eSATA ports.
I also have no use for, nor do I care to use Thunderbolt.

I guess thats partially true. USB 3 to USB 3 will be plenty fast if being used in a single drive configuration. Great if there was a USB 3 hub in it. Although I guess you could just buy a USB 3 hub and connect it to that.

I guess my comment about being limited to FW800 would actually only be true if you could even use the case that way? FW800 >> ministack = connections for FW800, eSATA and USB 3. But maybe it doesnt even work that way?
