Amazing documentary. Recommended.

Very fast paced and never lets up. Great racing film.

I agree.

I watched it during the midst of all the Tim Tebow hype. I was struck by the similarity: both men very devout and outspoken about it. The difference: Senna was that good.

Does the film suggest that Senna was very devoutly religious, and outspoken about it?

If you want to see two of the best racing movies - if not the best sports movies - get the free downloads on iTunes of "Truth in 24" and "Truth In 24 II". The story of the Audi team at the 24 Hours of LeMans in 2008 and last year, 2011. Great stories and drama, with spectacular photography. Enjoy them!

chopper, yes it does. Here's a nice essay about it by the films writer/exec producer:

Mr. Curious - cool, I'll check those out.

I wouldn't call it a racing film. It's a very good documentary about a great racing driver, and one of its principal strengths is that it's able to convey who he was, in an absorbing fashion, to people who have no idea who Senna was, or what he did.

The shorter theatrical cut is a much better film. I've seen the longer cut that's about 2.5 hours long, and it was a bit much, even for me, someone whose interest in F1 was at a peak during those times. I wouldn't recommend it those who don't, or haven't developed a keen interest in the subject. The interviews are longer, but it's not as well edited, and the talking head footage adds little.

As for Senna, he was a much more polarizing figure when he was alive. Perceptions changed greatly after his death for many.

Are these opinions of Senna from non race fans? I'm not a fan of racing... BUT am a fan of good documentaries - would I like this one? I passed on this one assuming that the high IMDB grade was due to race fanboys.
