philadelphia trip with kids

Going to Philly tomorrow with wife, au pair, 10 and 12 year old kids. Reluctant to go back to Franklin - is there something better. We are already doing some historical stops and the wife is unwilling to bring kids to an art museum. Suggestions? Thanks.

How about the Mutter?

San Antonio, TX (in the old city)

“Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented." - Eli Weisel

"To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public." - Theodore Roosevelt (1918)

"I don’t want to see religious bigotry in any form. It would disturb me if there was a wedding between the religious fundamentalists and the political right. The hard right has no interest in religion except to manipulate it." - Billy Graham 1981

"Politics and governing demand compromise. But these Christians believe they are acting in the name of God, so they can't and won't compromise" - Barry Goldwater

Why no art museum? Kids that age are plenty old enough to appreciate art. We took our daughter to her first art museum when she was 5, and she enjoyed it.

I'd have said go to a Phillies game wearing the opponent's jerseys, but I'm not that cruel (not to mention it's the All-Star break).

I am not Ryan Seacrest, and I do not approve this message.

It's the All-star break, so no baseball.

Lots of cool Americana to visit from the Revolutionary time.

My wife is in the medical field, so we went there for her birthday a few years ago. She loved it, I could have been in and out in 20 minutes.

Go to Geno's in South Philly for steak sandwiches! [N.B. they don't call them Philly cheese steaks here.] Make sure to ask for the "insides out" which means they take out some of the white bread from the inside to make more room for the steak and get Provolone cheese instead of cheez wiz.

City Hall and up the statue of Billy Penn.
Asos, take a walk along Penn's Landing on the river.
