Korean 27" Monitors

Hi everyone! Just thought I would post about my recent ebay purchase of a Yamakasi Catleap Q270SE monitor. I took a chance on the generic one that you can find on ebay for around $300 shipped. It came to me in three days from Korea and I must say, the monitor is awesome. It's an LED IPS display with 2560x1440 resolution. I purchased an nVidia 440 GT dual-link DVI card and am in business. There are other vendors that sell the same basic panel. Some of these displays can go to 120hz - I can only get mine to 67hz, but that's ok. For the price, compared to Apple, Dell, etc, it is well worth the money. These are "A-" panels that might have up to 5 dead pixels but are still brand new. I may have a couple on mine, but it's no big deal at all.

Anyway, for what it's worth, I love the monitor and thought it was a great deal! I hope it lasts for a while!

What's the warranty? I read that it's like 30 or 90 days on a lot of those Korean monitors, and
that if something goes wrong, you're out of luck trying to get it serviced.

hope it works out for you

I looked it over when it was posted here and found WAY too many complaints about service. But if it arrives working... and continues to work... good deal...

it would be kinda cool if you checked in about this in 6-12 months if you are still happy with it so we can complete the cycle. We KNOW you'd check in if something goes wrong.

Nice thread. Any similar deals on 1920x1080 IPS panels? Say for $125-$150?

I'll give you an update in six months. I checked around before I purchased and it seems that most people have been happy with these monitors. I'm pretty sure the warranty was for one-year. It's still somewhat of a leap of faith. Figured I'd try it out and see what happens.

I'll keep you updated.
