The sensor is aps-c and it will have an optional EOS EF lens adaptor. Unlike Nikon's 1 series, this sensor is much larger. Being enough to slow down the momentum of the Sony NEX system remains to be seen.

May be I am old school but no viewfinder is a deal breaker for me.

I sure wish Canon would invent a new word to replace "eos." Such an awkward little word...

This camera will surely do better in the market place than the K-01 but I will be surprised if it's actually more capable.

Giant lens with a small camera mounted at the end. It looks plain goofy. Why not just get a DSLR? They're cheaper and more full featured.

When you mount a 70-200mm lens on this camera it gets even funnier.

Realistically no one's going to buy an EOS-M in order to match it to $2500 L lens. Anyone that would use that combination is going to have a damn fine SLR to use with that L lens already.

However, my guess is that canon will sell a boatload of these with the kit lens. If the EF-M lenses are decent they've already got a step up on Sony's NEX series, as I've heard those lenses leave quite a bit to be desired even though the Sony bodies are quite nice.

In some markets, the kit will be available with the EF-M 22mm f/2 STM pancake. That'd be my choice, and I'd look elsewhere for a zoom.

It isn't a word, it's an acronym: Electro-Optical System. From the old days when there was nothing electronic about most lens mount systems.
