I've never heard of Warehouse 13.

What bugs me is their season is what, 10 episodes? Maybe 12?

I was re-watching some series a while ago...
Babylon 5 had 23 episodes per season, Deep Space 9 22 or 23, another one I can remember right now was 26 episodes a season!

Now shows are half-assing their seasons, and sometimes even stretching the breaks so that in 18 months, there's only one season, and the next one starts in the fall rather than the spring, then the second season starts in the spring!

OK.. done with that rant.


I have to admit, despite the cartoonish camp at times, I do rather enjoy Warehouse 13.
It's not really "science fiction" as much as fantasy/comedy though.

I much prefer the shorter seasons. You should try watching some UK shows. Spooks frequently had 10 and under episodes. Mostly under. It was still an excellent show and b/c of the short series it seemed much more tense. Watching some shows these days I feel like the season could be over at a certain point. Then it continues on and I feel it could end again. Then it plods on some more. And more and more. BBC's Sherlock is an awesome show. And it's "season" is only 3 episodes.

I never like to pee on anybody's parade and try not to.

So I'll try to keep this to a minimum.

My happiest day with Warehouse 13 was when Myka left the service. <whew!>

Kelly is a bad actress and really, seriously detracts from the show. The rest of the cast is pretty solid, and my favorites are Rubinek and Scagliotti, and sadly, she's now Scagliotti-Smith.

Still, I'm happy it's back and I'll watch.


On the bright side, I really like Alphas, especially Ryan Cartwright, formerly of Bones, where he also played a great chararter.

Not in chronological order? If that's not a Newt joke that I don't get, that could be troubling, as Alphas is pretty episodic.

That's why I keep a few episodes of several series as unwatched, so I can bridge the seasons. In fact, I've got one last episode of Alphas' first season to watch.

Yeah... she ain't great... but like you said, the rest of the cast carries her pretty well.

It's probably the economy driving the shorter seasons these days.

What really bothers me is the varying "season" length of some shows. That is, there's almost no clue the season is over. Suddenly, your show is just out of the rotation. Some shows may have a different number of episodes per season over three or four seasons.

The Brits have had short seasons for a *lot* of their shows, for years. And they call a season a series. That may give them more money per episode compared to us.

But I don't think there's any other reason the short series makes their shows better. They have great actors, writers, and directors doing TV, and making great drama,

I watched Spooks around series Four, Five, and Six. But they went through too many characters for me. Somebody must have warned actors "You got a part on Spooks? Don't make any big purchases. Just sayin'..."

The last episode I watched ended with Quinn ( Matthew Macfadyen) walking into the North Sea.

I saw in interview with one of the "new" actors on the show and they pretty much said the same thing.
