I'm happy for him, but hate the Yankees.

Maybe at least one guy can handle late games on the west coast. The rest of the team has had jet lag,

“I am overcome with feelings when I think of the times I spent with the fans here,” an emotional Suzuki said through an interpreter.

So are we, so are we.

Can't blame the guy for looking elsewhere while the Mariners "rebuild."

The bizarre part is the Yankees are playing the Mariners tonight in Seattle. Ichiro is listed at 6 in the Yankees line up

Yeah, it starts in half an hour. We're going to have sushi and watch in Ichiro's honor. My son is really bummed, he grew up with Ichiro's run here. And to the Yankees? Aargh.

Maybe he will have a chance to play in a World Series with the Yankees - certainly no chance with the Mariners the way they have played for a good number of years!

Ichiro is mt favorite player outside of a Dodgers uniform. I'm gutted, but maybe there's a silver lining in all this and he'll potentially bring a bit of class to NY. Here's hoping the fans treat him with the respect he deserves.

And continue to play tonight! Snooze. Now I remember why I don't watch Mariners games on TV.

As a Yankees fan, I'm not too happy that the Yankees received a former superstar in the twilight of his career who is also having the worst season of his career. But with Brett Gardner out with injuries, I guess Brian Cashman is looking for some more speed in his lineup.

Oh, and don't cry in your sake, Mariners fans. Ichiro asked to be traded.

Yes but that does little to ease our pain. winking smiley
He was pretty much done here and is in the twilight of his career, so why not go out on a winning team?

And the Mariners could definitely put the $18 million they were paying him this year to better use on younger players next season.

I think after this season he's heading back home to Japan. I doubt the Yankees will sign him on for next year.

Ichiro, o-tsukaresama deshita.
