ones of ours gets special food available only from a vet. Low protein.
Canned is $4.65/lb
Dry is $3.65/lb.
Portion wise, it's not very much.
The most expensive thing we eat at home is fresh tuna, around $15/lb this year.
The next gap down is chicken, $2.50/lb organic free range and Harvard educated.
We've dropped almost a new car into this cat, with Vet expenses. Fortunately, he's quite entertaining.

I have 4 cats and 3 are on special diets. One has had his colon removed, one gets sub Q fluids and pills daily for kidney failure, and one gets intramuscular shots for bony growths on the hips. I feel your pain. My house is a nursing home for aging felines. Thankfully my daughter works at a vet clinic so we do get a discount and are able to do treatments at home. Still, costs are steep.

decay

Looks similar to my garage upright freezer. I put cat food in it, when it is full I shut the door and plug it in. After a couple of days I empty the frozen cats into my trash. Rinse and repeat.

Saint Cloud, Minnesota, where the weather is wonderful even when it isn't.
