Welcome to iCloud

That's the title of an email I just got after upgrading to iOS 5 on my Touch.

The funny thing though, is that I declined to use iCloud during the setup after the install.

Doesn't Apple know this?

in iOS 6 all @me.com addresses get turned into @icloud.com addresses from what the Internets tell me.

Official iCloud acceptance position:

Drop Pants, Bend Over and place your hands on your knees.

Don't worry, this won't hurt Apple a bit!

in iOS 6 all @me.com addresses get turned into @icloud.com addresses from what the Internets tell me.

If you have an '@me.com' address, then come iOS 6 in the fall, you will also get the '@icloud.com' version of your address in addition to the '@me.com'. Both addresses will work.

In the same way that anyone who had an '@mac.com' address also has an '@me.com' address.

However, once iOS 6 rolls out, if a person gets a new iCloud account and elects to get a free email adddress will be '@icloud.com' only.
