Anybody have Undercover (Mac security software) installed?

The new version, 5, seems to be incredible according to this description:

"Undercover is sometimes compared to iCloud's Find My iPhone/iPad/Mac feature. However, Apple's Find My device feature pales compared to Orbicule's Undercover 5. Load the software on your computer and it silently runs in the background constantly monitoring your Mac's location. Should your Mac go missing, you can go to www.undercoverhq.com and start tracking your Mac remotely."

I already recovered one stolen computer with Undercover. Worth every penny.

I bought & installed it after Davester posted about it. Never needed it but the peace of mind is welcome.

That's a lot of pesto.

Looks like Hidden is a yearly fee. I suppose if you replace your laptop every 3 years you save a few bucks.

isn't there an open source solution that works almost like undercover? I know there is "orbicule" but that is also a paid software I think.

Have it, haven't needed it ... but it is nice security. I looked into the Prey thing and didn't like it.

Thanks for the thread reminder list! Great stuff! Any follow-up on whether they busted the home invaders?

Yes, I too would be interested in knowing the "final disposition" of things.

Nope, they didn't bust them. Apparently the person with the laptop was not the thief and she was cagey about where she got it. The cops weren't interested in putting a lot of effort in to prosecute a receiver of stolen goods...they wanted the thief.
