thread count, no sheet related

I have seen refs to the threads of use (?) in Activity Monitor/CPU.
What does this mean to me, in lay terms?

I'm running a 1st gen MacPro 2x2G Dual with 5G ram.

I have ProTools9 (native), Mail, Safari, Evernote, Adobe REader, TeamViewer (background) and a couple of drivers for another audio interface (Firebox) that feed my ext DK audio meter.
675 (approx) threads
100 Processes

I could drive the DK off the Mbox2 direct, but I don't feel like crawling around to reconfigure.

The wikipedia article gives a good summary at the beginning before it gets too far into details. Look for Thread (computing). No link because I don't want to deal with the Phorum bug with URL's containing a trailing parenthesis.

Unless you are having performance issues I would not worry about reconfiguring anything.

K, I guess that really is the bottom line.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
