Women's Soccer - SPOILER

USA! USA! USA! Gold Medal!
USA 2 Japan 1
Close match. Not super exciting from an attacking standpoint, but filled with tension with a number of very close calls. Defensive lapses and strengths defined the outcome of the game. If the US team hadn't had Hope Solo in goal there might have been a very different outcome. She made some great saves.

"In science it often happens that scientists say, 'You know that's a really good argument; my position is mistaken,' and then they would actually change their minds and you never hear that old view from them again. They really do it. It doesn't happen as often as it should, because scientists are human and change is sometimes painful. But it happens every day. I cannot recall the last time something like that happened in politics or religion." (1987) -- Carl Sagan

The US started out great but spent at least half the game on their heels. It was disappointing after such a strong start but still wonderful to watch them hang on to victory.

The Japanese women were impressive, but U-S-A! Unstoppable, especially at the Olympics.

Agree! I suspected each player was so preoccupied to be the one to score a goal that everyone forgot the team work. Japanese players were so good at stealing the ball.

SoCal for now.
