In spite of the car rental problems we arrived safely in Norman, OK. I want to thank everyone for their words of support and input. I also wanted to post a follow-up to my previous thread.

Yesterday at 9:00 AM I did contact the Enterprise Rent-a-Car office. After a brief conversation, they agreed to drive the 60 miles (roundtrip) to deliver the van to me. When the older gentleman arrived with the van and the contract for the replacement vehicle, I noticed that the contract still listed Friday (5 PM) as the start of the contract period. Before I signed the new contract I corrected it to show that the rental period started Saturday morning. I also informed the gentleman that I had been very disappointed that Enterprise had provided me a vehicle that I felt was not safe and that I would be contacting the manager after we returned from the trip. I apologized for venting to the old gent who delivered the van as he appeared to be a retiree who probably delivered vehicles to just earn some extra money.

I am glad I did wait for the van with good tires as we did drive through several heavy showers on the way down here.

I will be following up with the manager when we return.

I've rented from them many times. Unlike some other companies, they've fixed any problems, been reasonable and gone above and beyond. Last time I needed to rent a car seat. They don't have a max charge for lengthy rentals. So I told them I only wanted it for one day. The guy was confused and asked why. I said I was going to the store and buy one as that would be cheaper than renting for that period. His response? "How about I just don't charge you for it and you keep it for the full time?"

Other places usually have a max around $75.
