how to "decommission" a Mac?

I am going to replace the drive in a 2-year old Macbook and give it to a friend as partial payment for work he is doing. I'll put the old drive in an enclosure and use it as an archive.

What are the steps to decommission the Mac, in terms of software? I vaguely remember I need to go into iTunes and deauthorize the computer. Do I need to do that with Adobe Creative Suite?

thanks

Depends on the version of CS. If it's the first one, no. I think Adobe started the license activation process with CS3. On my copy of CS5, the deactivation is under the help menu. If you have any other legal software that requires activation after installation, do those, too.

What version of Creative Suite? Anything that required you to get and enter an authorization code would need to be deauthorized. CS2 and up, I think.

That was easy. Just never done it before, somehow - or so long ago I didn't remember.

Do you need to "de-authorize" the Mac App Store?

First, you wait for a full moon.
Then, at midnight, you kill a live chicken and spread the blood making the Apple logo.
.....the rest is optional.
