IT says of course that it was synched with another computer, and that I can erase and start over.

But is there any way to keep the music that is there now

THanks,

Set it to manually manage music, and just drag-and-drop new music on there?

You might be able to synch it using a 3rd party tool to extract the music from the iPod, then reset the iPod and put the music back. That way it becomes her iPod with 'her' music rather than a hacked mix-bag. I've done this using my Linux box and an external drive. Extract the music from the iPod to an external drive. Reset the iPod. Copy the music from the external drive to the iTunes library. Synch the iPod and put the music back.

You can use a program like Senuti (iTunes backwards) to transfer the music to iTunes from the iPod. Once there, reset the iPod and sync as normal.
