Well, in their defense they were forced to land in Syria, despite having no service there, and no relations with the regime. And the Syrian airport operator refused to accept their corporate credit. The passengers were quite afraid of becoming part of the civil war raging there.

Brings back memories of Uli Derickson

When a ground crew in Algiers refused to refuel the plane without payment, even when faced with the terrorists' threat to kill passengers, it occurred to Ms. Derickson to offer her Shell credit card. The ground crew charged about $5,500 for 6,000 gallons of fuel.

All those in Business and First Class that don't contribute will be demoted to Coach and those in Coach who contribute more will take the place of the stiffs who are unwilling to pay.

I didn't know that Beirut was considered safe. Once you get a bad reputation..

However, it wouldn't surprise me if the fun in Syria spills over into Lebanon.
