running shoes size question

I shave a small foot, I bounce back and forth between sizes 7.5 and 8 when I buy shoes.

I just measured my foot and it is exactly 25 cm. I just got a new pair of Asics (I posted a RYF deals a few weeks ago) and I ordered size 8.

The box says

EURO 41.5
CM 26.0
US 8

Like I said, my foot is 25 cm, so there is a 1 cm gap ( 3/8" ). would it make sense to exchange it for a 7.5 which would probably fit just snug, no extra space left?

I am tempted to keep it as it is, I think a slightly larger shoe is probably better than one that it just fit or too small. But then I don't know much about running, so this is why I am asking here.

Thanks

EDIT: looks like my guess was right.

Length

The recommended fit for any athletic shoe is a thumbs width from the end of your longest toes to the end of the shoe to allow room for swelling and prevent the potential for irritation and blisters. In most cases, people use a half size larger when compared to their casual shoe size. In some cases, people use a full size larger.

I never ever ever buy shoes online. My feet are flattish and I need arch support in an unusual spot. I would recommend returning them. Life's too short to have sore feet.

If you are running for much of any distance each week, I think you would be better getting running shoes fitted for you at a store that specializes in them. They will cost a fair bit more and if you are on a tight budget then that may not be practical for you, but if it's not a budget stretcher for you then going to such a store is they way to go, IMHO.

Just wear thicker socks if it feels too roomy. Asics are my favorite running shoe btw.

Depending on how far/long you run, your feet will encounter normal expansion. It's generally recommended to buy running shoes at least a size larger than you normally wear regardless of the manufacturer.
