Yea, looks like a "shadow" extending from the USB receiver and the shadow hits the Kensington security slot, making it all look like a weird hole.

That reminds me of the most bone-headed design feature of the MBP that has always bugged me: through several redesigns, Apple has placed the security slot where it interferes maximally with the use of a mouse.

I have a 2011 MBP 15" i7 with a Logitech Mouse using a USB receiver. No problems here.

actually I think it is just poor illumination in that scene, I don't think they made that shade in Photoshop. Look the shade of the mouse (not received) in the powerbook's corner.
