What would you do at Apple if you were Ives for a day?

Lots of opinions,on this board - @#$%&, even - about changes at Apple over the years. So, here's your chance to think about fixing your favorite hardware design gripes or adding a cool feature set.

I want a retina display, 13" Mac laptop with LTE that's user serviceable for SSD/HD and RAM.

How about you? Post your ideas here!

One day is not enough . . . I need to see what is in the "secret lab area" and go from there.

I'd put into production:
1. An Apple-branded, wireless, backlit keyboard with number pad
2. BTO option for CD drive in Mac Mini (or shrink the Mini by the space that drive occupied)
3. Create a base that goes under each computer to bring ports to the front
4. Update iPod Nano with Bluetooth and also add an entry gate/garage door remote
5. Turn AppleTV into an AppleTiVo/wireless router

Safe to say retina displays (or better) will be across all equipment models in the future - so that is an almost-given.

With Tim Cook's cooperation... Replace my retail chief and make a new professional Desktop line with full-tower and compact-tower versions, not unlike the 21-inch and 27-inch iMac options.

Then I'd lock myself in my office for a week with the GUI design team and fix all the stuff we broke in 10.7-10.8 in a misguided attempt to unite a touchscreen consumption-oriented interface with a mouse/trackpad production-oriented interface.

...

Then I'd get cracking on putting all of the features back in OS X server and making it a compelling purchase for enterprise customers.

Eliminate all the stupid market segmentation.
One iPad, 32GB with uXD slot for memory expansion and USB 3
30" retina display
iMac with easily user upgradeable CPU, GPU, and HD
option for MacBook Pro with a real professional GPU and 4 GB VRAM
mini and mini Pro with a PCIe slot
iPhone with true worldwide 4G service

in tha 510.

A couple more: I'd go back to using standard hard drives and SATA cables in the iMacs and set the engineers on making both iMacs and Apple laptops as easily-repairable as possible.

I wouldn't change anything. Apple is the most valued and most profitable company in the world, why mess around?

That doesn't mean they are perfect. Instead, that attitude only fuels hubris IMHO.

Get rid of the embarrassing skeuomorphic iCal and Address Book skins.

Not because they're in themselves a big deal. Because of the reasoning behind the decision to even consider them.

Wait. Forget the skins. Just fire the people who thought they were a brilliant idea.

Get Apple to Buy Adobe.
Make Rosetta an extra cost option, like Server.

Find a way to make more items user upgradable, or them an optional, extra millimeters thick version.

Change the way Lion handles windows. It opens them with far too much empty space. Tighten around window content, to allow several windows to be open at the same time without having to manually juggle them.

At least embed an option to decide if you want full-screen windows a la Lion, or the more efficient tiled windows.
