My friend just bought new 27" iMac, 3.1 GHz (RAM?)

My friend just bought his very first Mac, specs in subject line! YEAH for him... :-)

It comes stock with 4GB of RAM (2x2 GB). So, I know there are two empty slots in the computer. I have 2 GB (2x1GB) from a recently upgraded new Mac Mini. Can I put those two pieces in the empty slots for a total of 6 GB in the iMac? Not sure what the rules are for loading RAM slots in that machine, didn't see anything readily about it in a quick Goigle Search.

Recent iMacs take 2, 4 or 8 GB SO-DIMM's, so the 1 GB ones from the Mac Mini shouldn't work.

Try it, since the "main" top slots have the 2GB each minimum in them, and the bottom "secondary" slots would both be filled, it *might* be worth a shot, as long as the sticks are otherwise spec compatible.
