Help recording to car audio system

So, I'm loving the new Murano - but I have a question - it has a "music box" that can be loaded with music, like an iPod - but it appears from reading the manual that it can only be done from CDs - which I've been doing, but it is a SLOW process - not to mention that iTunes and Amazon purchases will have to be burned to a CD first, unless I can figure another way to do it. The manual seems to indicate that CDs are it - anyone know of a workaround - it is a BOSE system with Navigation - and has a 9 gig capacity.

USB? If so, I think you possibly can use a flash drive. Navigation system?

You can use a usb connection for your iPod or iPhone - and it will read from a connected USB drive, but will not record from any of those - at least not any way I've figured out.

The Nav system is integrated to the music box.

Sorry, you did say it had nav. USB flash drive might be easiest, (yes, apparently no transfer!) or a .mp3 CD or DVD-A perhaps?

According to the online manual, it appears that it will only import from cd's.

Chrysler does the same dumb thing with their "Hard Drive" radios. But they will let us load it with mp3's from a flash drive.

Does it read MP3 CDs?

You can create/burn a Mp3 CD in tunes which can hold a ton more songs than a standard audio CD.

Yes it does - however I was hoping to skip that step and record directly from flash or iPod.

REALLY kludgy workaround - in this day and age when buying music via download is more "normal" than buying CDs.

The whole thing seems kind of silly.

A 16GB USB flash drive will hold almost twice the Bose's internal capacity, cost you next to nothing, and allow you to reprogram as needed using a clean interface.
