TV price slashed to $2600. Too bad it's DLP.

I'd consider this box if it wasn't DLP.

Price is right- one for the living room and one for the bedroom.

That would be a great cinema experience.

DLPs (and rear-projections, in general) are still preferred for many home theater enthusiasts.

I still have a 65" that I prefer to watch over any of the LCDs or plasmas (I do have an equivalent-size 3D plasma).

All personal preference, obviously.

Do DLPs still have that "rainbow effect" I alway found it jarring.

Do they make the bulbs with LCD lighting now?

I like our DLP's picture but I wouldn't purchase another one, seems like I have had more service on this tv than all the tv's I have ever owned put together and buying bulbs every year or two.

Yeah, sorta. Rolando beat me to it.

I haven't seen that model, but I've seen a few DLPs and every one (so far) has had the moire pattern syndrome. It was really annoying. But of one doesn't see the MPS, then more power to 'em.

Otherwise, I could really enjoy a 92" TV. Believe me- if it wasn't for that, I'd be shaking Piggy for all the loose change.

Our 56"Panasonic is on it's third lamp in five years or so. Picture is very good and 1080p is very clear with great side angle viewing. It does generate some heat and the fan is a little noisy.
It sets on a 20" deep equipment cabinet and fits nicely with the tower speakers on the sides. Ok, 5/2 sound with rears and two subs.
We will keep it until internal problems occur. Lamps are easy to find.
Does anybody have a current Mitsubishi model? I think they are the only one left with DLP.

Did you forget the sarcasm tag? 92" for the bedroom?

I didn't forget anything.

There was no sarcasm, ergo no tags required. I wasn't being particularly serious, either.

But at a 12' viewing distance running some kind of Starry Sky or nebulae-type media, loop in some crickets or maybe a rain soundtrack, and I could see a 92" TV in the bedroom.

I've seen those big Mitsu DLP's. The picture quality is excellent. If the DLR fit in the space and the viewing distance is right, I would buy one
