All this SSD talk, but what to get if my MBPro isn't SATA III?

I've been reading and posting about this for a week or two, but just realized that my "15-inch 2.53GHz, Mid 2009" model doesn't do SATA III.

So does that mean I'm wasting my money to get a SSD that does 6Gbps, when my machine only does 3?

Where does one find the best deals on SATA II SSDs??

Shouldn't matter, most are backward compatible. Newer stuff is usually better, and also more likely to be SATA III rather than SATA II. Look for reputable maker w/ latest technology... some SATA II offerings in the pipeline are older technology, and may even be more expensive. In the SSD world, the latest and greatest can also be the most affordable.

A fine choice.
In some cases (e.g. OWC) the SATA III models have better warranties.
Otherwise very few people are going to notice a difference between SATAII and SATA III in an SSD.

An SSD will even make an old Power PC Mac w/PATA perceptbly faster (due to the higher I/O operations per second...a storage system is not only tasked by throughput, but also a lot of read/write calls, especially of small chunks of data, by the OS).

We stuck a ssd in the ol 2.1 core duo mbp and it extended the life a bit. Loads much faster now and pshop has been improved. Well worth it in my opinion even though I didn't have sata 3.

I can confirm that an SATAIII SSD works file in an older Mac (2007 SR MBP). I'm typing on it now!
