Does anyone know if Java runs in Safari on iOs5.x? I see a JavaScript setting, but not one for Java....

No. Java is not available for iOS.

Don't believe it's on any mobile OS except maybe Symbian.

Even on Symbian, J2ME or JME are a bit different than the desktop runtimes
