Beaver shot, Moon shot and Kingfisher

I was steathily taking pics of this guy:


When this guy swam by (literally about 4' away from me, but this pic was from much farther) and stayed nearby for quite a while:


And on the way out, grabbed this:


SX50 on the American River near sacrmamento - Moon shot was tripodded - could done better - I forgot to adjust the ASA and got some blown highlights. A lot of PS manipulation to get rid of purple fringe

Can you set the flash to fire a little bit longer next time? You only got half the moon there in that last shot.

Seriously, the moon shot doesn't seem closer than shot with the full zoom of the SX40. Are you at full zoom for it?

That's full zoom and cropped in PS - it's significantly more than the sx40.

It's reflected sunlight. The moon has a rather high albedo.
