Has Amazon's product review process changed?

I just submitted a review, and they said it would take up to a couple of days before the review was published. I don't recall this happening before.

I wouldn't be surprised, given how some of the items become repositories for jokes and/or political commentary. On the other hand, I love the way that happens and will miss it if they crack down on it.

I think Amazon actually likes and approves of the joke reviews.

I remember seeing that disclaimer when I posted my reviews.

Appears to be a standard announcement. oh snap smiley

Many writers themselves say they see nothing wrong with fake reviews on their books, but readers are complaining. In one case, a single reviewer — Harriet Klausner — submitted more than 25,000 reviews, and customers complain they don’t see how she can read so quickly and praise so many books.

Klausner, a retired librarian, defends her reviews, saying her health keeps her home, and that she’s an insomniac who reads quickly.

That's one book per day continuously for 68 years.

There are what seem to be phony reviews in areas besides books. Sometimes a review will read exactly as if it was written by a company's PR person. I don't think it's nearly as bad as the book review situation, however!

I know a guy who is blind and "reads" books on tape on a high speed player. Can go through several books a day.
