Possibly, but I'd be more worried about replacing the GF. :-)

I soaked my iP4 in a pool for 1/2 hour back in november, and after thoroughly drying it out asap in the sun and for another 1.5 days hence, it has worked fine. Just now? at least try to dry it out!

The 4S replacement cost is $149 plus tax at the Apple Store.

Was it a front loader or top loader? Just curious...I ask because my wife washed hers in a front loader, and after going through a cycle in the the dryer (still in the pocket of her jacket) it worked fine. That was 1.5 years ago and still ticking.

My daughter's iPhone 4 took a bath which required the replacement of the battery which we got locally for about $60. Her few week old iPhone 5 was less fortunate after its bath and went back to Apple for replacement - $253.35 total. It worked in all respects except the mic and phone speaker were nonfunctional. I think the replacement 5 was a new phone, not a refurb. She learns the hard way, albeit slowly. Her 5 was gone just a few days, Apple cross-shipping at no additional charge the new one as soon as the UPS Store (under contract with Apple, just brought in a case number and the bare iPhone) sent off the old 5. But it is sitting on the shelf where she can see it but isn't allowed to use it for one month. I could turn it on so she can hear friends trying to make contact but that would be too cruel.

What? I think you mean $549. They will however repair any iPhone 4s for $199 (excluding catastrophic damage...liquid damage is sometimes covered, sometimes not).

"In science it often happens that scientists say, 'You know that's a really good argument; my position is mistaken,' and then they would actually change their minds and you never hear that old view from them again. They really do it. It doesn't happen as often as it should, because scientists are human and change is sometimes painful. But it happens every day. I cannot recall the last time something like that happened in politics or religion." (1987) -- Carl Sagan

If you send off your water damaged 4S to Apple it will replace it for the lower price. Now if you run over it with your SUV then forget the lower price.

Place it in a bag of rice for 36 hours and it will be as good as new.

It will probably work once it is thoroughly dry. I don't fully buy the rice trick, but I guess it can't hurt. May take several days or longer. Try to find some sunlight to keep it in.

I took my 3G swimming in my pool for a while and "later" it was fine. Later, in this case being several weeks as I had already gotten a "free" 3GS to replace it.
