Man, that article leaves me with a couple of nagging questions. Was it unbridled greed? Or, is the British food industry saddled with incompetence. Maybe this will spur change.

OK, maybe I should get off my high horse and just agree to let the jokes run their course. Hay, they can't last furlong, can they? Or we could take a Gallup poll on the desirability of continued horseplay.

Do you think that too much horse meat might give you the trots? If so, you could use it for a new type laxative and call it "Pony Express"

The old artic circle drive ins switched to horse meat burgers once without saying anything about it. Bought 2 of their 35 centers. Tasted funny went in to complain and they pointed to a little 3X5 card stuck up in the corner of the window.

Have you people not eaten horse meat??

I'd like to see a show of hands. No?

I had horse meat sashimi, in Yokohama, in 2001. It was delicious. I'm not joking.

Actually, it wasn't bad, the other dishes were good, too, most of it typical Japanese sushi-bar, noodle-shop items. I was interested in trying whale, which is still occasionally available. But mainly out of sheer novelty, to be able to say I've tried something rare and unusual.

I'm pretty sure I'm not only among the few here who've eaten the flesh of a horse, but have eaten it uncooked.

Mmmmmmm

I have, both raw and cooked in Italy. There are even specialized butcher shops that sell horse meat, although none of it comes from California...
