I never caused any accidents and I avoided many many bad drivers that would have otherwise hit my car. I guess I do OK.

My car has no dents on it (knock on wood). I don't recall anyone honking or yelling at me in the past few years. Therefore I'd have to go with above average.

"In science it often happens that scientists say, 'You know that's a really good argument; my position is mistaken,' and then they would actually change their minds and you never hear that old view from them again. They really do it. It doesn't happen as often as it should, because scientists are human and change is sometimes painful. But it happens every day. I cannot recall the last time something like that happened in politics or religion." (1987) -- Carl Sagan

I drive very rarely, but I don't text or eat or yap on my cellphone when I drive, I don't drink, and I don't try to kill other drivers who annoy me, so I put myself in the above average category.

No accidents that were my fault in 20 years of driving. Had 1 in 2011. Driver cut in front of me making a left turn. I hit that sucker going about 35mph. Totaled truck

scrapes, dents, speeding and driving to endanger tickets don't count.

I'm fairly careful, but there's so much traffic around here that very few avoid a fender bender or two

I think I am an average driver, haven't had an accident in years, and have avoided many my wife would have gotten in.

My wife asked me if I think I'm a better driver than her. I said "Yes, I am four better than you!"

Wifey: "For what?!?!?"

Me: "I'd have to have 4 shots before you were a better driver than me!"

Wifey" "!@#!#%$%@$%!"

I'm glad I chose a comfy couch!

Interesting results. I admit to being an average driver which I think is a good driver. When the majority think they are better than average that makes them average!! Just goes to show that most people have an unrealistic opinion of themselves :-)

I'm not as good a driver as I used to be.

Too true! I think that a successful driver in MN is by definition an above average driver because of the winter weather...

Wow, I am surprised at this thread. I'm actually surprised I'm surprised as well. I thought the scale would be 1-10, 10 being the highest and thus someone like The Stig. So I was going to rate myself a 7 or so.

I don't really think lack of dents and scratches means much. When I was working on my deck last summer my car was parked in the street and was hit no less than three times.

I've completed three advanced driving courses - one dry, one snow and one wet & dry (HPDE). My times for the auto x were in the top 5 or so, out of 70+ drivers. I can do a fully controlled four wheel drift in ice, snow and pavement. I also took it as a complement that at the last HPDE a few asked me why I wasn't using launch control, and when I pointed out I was driving a stick (the DSG version of that car has launch control) they were impressed at how smoothly I shifted - they thought it was an auto.

Most drivers I see on the road I would rate a 3 or a 4. Teens that can't go more than a few weeks without a ticket or a crash, that'd be a 1.

No accidents in more than a quarter century of driving.

I drive badly enough that the other drivers see me coming and get outta the way.
