mixing LED and incandescent lights

Can I mix incandescent and LED on the same circuit? Can I mix LED and halogen on same circuit? Want to add lights to my kitchen before wife paints it a dark color. We currently have incandescent lights over the table and halogen pendants over the island and 4 incandescent cans around the kitchen. We want to split the can lights and distribute several LED cans around the kitchen to make up for the loss of lighting by the dark color. Any problems foreseen?

No worries, go for it. It's just a power load as far as the circuit is concerned.

Good luck matching color temps if you care.

Not a problem, though they may not dim equally with the incandescents if you have dimmers.

"In science it often happens that scientists say, 'You know that's a really good argument; my position is mistaken,' and then they would actually change their minds and you never hear that old view from them again. They really do it. It doesn't happen as often as it should, because scientists are human and change is sometimes painful. But it happens every day. I cannot recall the last time something like that happened in politics or religion." (1987) -- Carl Sagan

The kitchen is a place where I think you can't have too much light.

While the ceiling be a light color? As mentioned, matching color temperature will be a problem, if that matters. Cooler LEDs and halogens could be closer, but I see much trial and error in your future.

Unless you're lucky, or it just doesn't matter.

Cooler LEDs and halogens could be closer.

Is that what you meant to write? Halogens are much, much closer to "warm" LEDs than cool LEDs.
An LED at the cooler end of "warm" might start to approach Halogen.

My recommendation would be to upgrade the other can lights at the same time so all LEDs are from the same 'batch.'

Straying even farther into "more than I wanted to know" territory here... but these look to be awfully close to Incandescent:

Is that what you meant to write?

No, but your rewrite is more accurate.

I replaced some incandescents with some Philips halogens and they were much brighter and cooler than the same wattage Sylvania whatevers.

I was going by a seat-of-the-pants observation.
