How to tell if a G3 iMac has a dead PAV board, or something else?

I've got two G3 iMacs that are dead like doornails. The last couple times I've seen this sort of symptom, it turned out to be a bad PAV board...

I've got a couple PAV boards located, but I kinda want to be sure that it IS the PAV board before I order 'em... I've done a PAV board swap before... not so much fun, but doable.

Is there anything else any G3 iMac experts can think of that is a "likely" other cause of the "dead as a doornail" syndrome?

Once, for me, it was a dead PRAM battery, but I'm assuming you checked that already. The second time it was a dead video board, and I RIP'ed it. It makes a very handy doorstop.

Can't afford to trash 'em yet... no money for eMacs to replace 'em sad smiley

And I THINK I've tried new PRAM batteries.. but I should probably make sure, before I go buying parts...
