CCC Cloned Image (10.3.9) ends up constraining a drive to the image size? Help?

I took a previously working 10.3.9 Sparseimage...
Cloned it to an iMac G3.
Made changes (added and deleted some apps, etc).
Cloned it to an ASR Image with CCC.

Now, that new image will clone to a drive (for example a 40Gb drive), but then the drive becomes a volume the size of the image (for example 5Gb).
Disk utility shows a drive of 40Gb, but a space used of 5Gb, and a free space of 50Mb or so.. they don't add up to 40Gb.

Multiple tries... CCC, NetRestore, etc... same results every time.

Naturally, I screwed up and dumped the ORIGINAL image that worked..

So..
Any suggestions for FIXING the image file, or fixing it on the iMac so I can RE-clone it?

What happens when you use SuperDuper?

Dunno yet...

Might as well give it a try though!

perhaps after restoring from the sparse image, you could then make a regular backup of that (not a sparse), then restore to any partition giving it the full use of said partition.

I think I followed that...
Sounds like an avenue of attack.

It's been a LONG day!

I just started cloning a "bad" iMac HD (by bad, I mean it shows being a 40Gb drive, with 5Gb used, but only 50mb remaining), using SuperDuper.

Then I'll try booting the iMac via Firewire from the target drive (an 80gb Seagate in a FW case)... and see if it's "cured"...and if it is, from thence I shall create a new ASR image.

Monster... you're a freakin' genius...
SuperDuper copied the "bad" clone to a "good" clone.

Tomorrow I'll work on making a good ASR image from the good clone.
And I just added SuperDuper to my utility startup disk, along with DiskWarrior, BatchMod, CCC and NetRestore.

Now I'm going to bed...
