It's that time again.. would be interested in what y'all think.
Remember that it's basically a marketing tool so it needs to be easy to read, at a distance, without backlighting.

Good question-
The target size is 4.25" by 1.5" on waterproof vinyl.

I sent him a nudge to update it for 2014 but no response. That was always my favorite.

I'd be interested to hear what makes these two more professional than, say, "cool beans," or "bring it," if you guys are willing to elaborate.
Particularly "on the go through the snow" is showing much stronger than I would have expected. Thoughts appreciated.

Also, I should note.... I definitely like a professional look, but sometimes in the context of a grass-roots effort it can be disempowering, as people may decide they don't have the skills or talent to participate. We're looking for the design that best promotes the message, with aesthetic quality/polish slightly secondary.

"on the go" needs a little bit heavier type face for the small sentence, but otherwise i like the rear tire/gear/snowflake.

Thx... designer has already been alerted that that need will exist if the sticker wins.

Cool Beans.

Good sticker design- Fun without being obnoxious. Well executed. Good type choices and color palette.

agree smiley

This is the only one that is simple (uncomplicated) enough for a small sticker.

What do 'beans' have to do with biking in winter?

There's some rather long text that I didn't include here which describes, among other things, the desire for a 'mascot' and a new look for each year. Entrants are urged to review past years' stickers:
[bikewinter.org]
In order to avoid duplicating past themes. Personally, I love the jelly beans (it's just a play on the expression "cool beans") and think the "on the go" looks too much like many past years. But I'll go with whatever wins.....
I put the contest here as a sort of control each year to make sure the 'real' vote results aren't from outer space, and it almost always trends pretty exactly like the vote (which will likely top out around 450 votes.) With close to 300 in, the same two stickers are running neck and neck.

Either Cool Beans (whimsical) or On the Go (professional).

I voted for Y U No Ride. The URL is bold and legible at a glance. The image is impactful and so ugly (in a good way) it's memorable.

On the Go is a close second with some editing to the copy.
The image is nice but the copy doesn't "read".
Rejigger the copy to read:

BIKE WINTER 2014
ON THE GO THROUGH THE
SNOW

Put the URL completely in the snow area for contrast and legibility.

The "cool beans" illustration is just fine, and it could be very usable. But the type is what's killing it, and it should be completely redone if you want to go that route. Since the connection between "cool beans" and winter biking is kind of weak in the first place, the type/logo can't just sit there randomly--it needs to tie it all together.

There is no real need to explain but I will try. In this Art Director's humble opinion, the two that I noted are the most professional looking stickers with the best overall design. They each have inherent problems, font size, placement, color choices etc (you can work those out with the designer).

The others look like they are done by non professionals (because they were). Some are directly taken from internet memes(Dated and no!). Others are just not as quality as the aforementioned.

Even though yours is a grassroots organization it still should never look amateur.

my 2 cents
