Moving file between finder tabs

Mavericks...With two finder tabs open, when I click and drag a file from one tab to the other, the file is created as an alias and not moved.

Am I doing it wrong?

If you don't have permissions to move the file to the other tab then you'll end up with an alias.

Same as when you try to move a file between open windows.

I see.

When I used TotalFinder in the past, a popup had me enter my permission's password.

How do I allow it now?

How do I allow it now?

Depends upon the specific circumstance.

You could try command+drag and should be prompted for your admin password doing that.

If command+drag doesn't work, might have to option-drag to copy it to the new location and then command+delete on the original.
