tmobile 200mb deal clarification...

I was curious about the tmobile 200mb deal. If I activate the service on 1 device, then later get a better device, would I still keep the service terms?

It is linked to the device's IMEI number, so no.

I believe you just activate it on the new device with a new SIM. I don't think the SIM from the original device will work in the new device, but I don't think you are limited to a single free plan. I think.

Tying it to the IMEI seems unecessary. Are they trying to avoid someone popping it into a phone and then complaining calls aren't possible, trying to limit the "lifetime" to the device instead if the user, or both?

Are you sure the service is actually tied to the IMEI? I've had other carriers ask for IMEI at activation and never been stopped from switching the SIM to a new device. The SIM is what grants the 200MB access so switching the SIM to another device would not enable a user to game the system for additional free 200MB. Why would T-Mobile care?

I think this may be correct, but the guy at T-M seemed to think this deal might only last through the holidays.

TMo is running an ad about how it now works in the iPad Air.

And in the same game (KC vs. Oak) there was also an ad touting how much better the Kindle Fire is than the iPad Air.

I haven't tried moving an active sim to different iPads, but I'll try this over break.

I bet it's fine so long as all of the devices eventually get their IMEI registered.

Well, while we're on this subject, will a TMobile sim for iPhone work in an iPad? I just got free sim, but couldn't find a way to order iPad specific sim.

You should be okay as long as you got the correct size SIM for your iPad.

Thanks silvarios. It's the nano size for iPhone 5 and above, and my iPad is last Christmas present... I'll check to see if it's nano one. If so, I'll check out TMobile a bit.

And, if the merger with Sprint goes through - likely all bets are off.
