My friends order $300 worth of See's Candies she would like to send to the troops in Iraq. Operation Dearabby cannot accept packages any more due to anthrax. Any suggestion is greatly appreciated. TiA

With See's that's about 10 pounds worth of candy. I'm confused. Do you want to figure out another way to send the candy?

Kap, check [www.anysoldier.com].

I can't imagine that chocolates would make it through to Iraq or Afghanistan intact though.

Perhaps, my friend can donate the candies to the local charities.

Thanks for the link, Gutenberg.

I've used the anysoldier.com site. It is very good and easy to use.

I think it is still too hot to send chocolates over there. Temps still in the 90º-100º.

I thought the same thing, but somehow See's can ship chocolate the hottest places. Don't know what the trick is. Me want chocolate. Me want now. Me in p-p-pain.

It isn't that hard to ship chocolate to warm weather places as long as you KNOW it will be delivered when it should be. (I worked for a custom candy packaging company for 12 years and we shipped EVERYTHING everywhere all year long.)

As long as the chocolates are packed in coolers with dry ice or ice packs and are sent on a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday via 2 day service the candy survives nicely. Once it sits someplace non temperature regulated over the weekend or is held up in customs all bets are off and problems start to arise.
