Car Guys: Floor Mats ?

My little 2002 Honda Civic has experienced the second failure of a set of OEM front floor mats. Ok, I'm kind of hard on the driver's side, getting in and out in the winter with boots filled with snow and whatever, tapping my feet impatiently, etc... The mats tend to last 5 years for a set, which I guess isn't that bad.

So.. should I get another OEM set, or go for Weathertechs ? Whichever I choose, the *will* have the required hole for the clip that keeps the mat from sliding up under the pedals. I've experience that once in another vehicle, and I'm paranoid about it happening again.

Cbelt,

Go for the Weathertech Digital Fit Floor liners:

Not cheap but definitely worth every penny. And, they have the hole for securing it to the floor.

Robert-
Oh poodle ! They don't make 'em for a manual transmission. Look well made though.

I don't know about the 2002, but the U-Ace stuff is great.

Husky liners don't say anything about transmission but they have this note for the 2002 Civic:

Please note: Husky Floor Mats may require trimming for the correct fit. Trim guides are molded into the mats to aid in trimming.

The warehouse clubs all have heavy duty mats at reasonable prices (~$20). Some trimming may be needed.

I bought Husky liners for my 2013 Honda Odyssey. It works great. I didn't have to trim at all.

I have another custom-fit set. Not WeatherTech, but the manufacturer's label is long-since gone. They have almost 200,000 miles on them, so I don't feel bad at all about recommending you spend the money on a good-quality set (if you're going to keep the car for a while).

I buy mine at Costco and can't remember ever replacing a set. I think my minivan mats are on their third minivan and they still look good, once they've been hosed down.

The floor mats in my '72 Buick Skylark are original, and are 42 years old. Maybe you should buy an old Buick. Actually, I still have the original floor mats from my '64 Plymouth Belvedere as well.

So, buy an old American car, and never replace floor mats again!

Weathertech floor liners are perfect for winter & other tough environments. They are not what I would call luxury mats, but I love them and have them in all of my cars.

Plus Weathertech is a great company who really gets it.
