Scanner Suddenly "Not Installed"

I use an Astra USB scanner which runs in Classic on a G4 Tower that has 10.3.8 installed. I use it about once a week, for years now. I use it from inside Photoshop LE 5.

Today suddenly it says, "scanner not installed."

Do I need to reinstall the scanner software. Uggh, I haven't installed anything in System 9 for ages. Don't have a clue where that software is.

Try restarting Photoshop or both your computer and photoshop. I had this problem once and it went away after I did that.

If the above doesn't work, try this stuff:

Once I started using VueScan, I never even bothered to install a single thing on the next scanner I bought.

Is the scanner plugged into a USB PCI card? Might be a sleep issue.

This happened to me in the past. I powered the scanner off and powered it back on. You could hear the scanner go through its initial warm up and then it was "seen" by the system.
