after temps in the 70s yesterday, Freeze Warning Tonight

Did Canada actually perfect a Winter Weapon last year, and has been test firing it from time to time?

Temps in the 70s over the weekend, and we've got a freeze warning (with wind chills in the upper 20s) overnight forecast for Central AR. (that's Arkansas, not Arizona) (or Alaska; I don't know how some people got that mistaken)

So I guess the new norm will be not to plant gardens until, what, after Memorial Day?

(BTW, it's spelled < y'all >.)

Lovely evening tropical thunder showers here. Blessings from the gawds
as I lightly applied a little more time release fertilizer to the grass.

edit: currently 85° F

Be safe and be well . . .

25F. And windy. But six (near Iowa) of our 10,000 lakes were declared ice free by the Department of Natural Resources. Well over a foot of snow remains in the northeast part of the state. The lakes there won't be ice free for a month.

We actually had about a 1hour power outage this evening due to the
thunderstorm and lightening.

Note to self start checking out generators again . . .

I just checked some soil temps., at 3" depth, 43 F. That's pretty darn cool for
central NC in mid April. It's suppose to be 30 Wed. morning. No wonder
there's no corn planting going on around here, needs to be 50 F.

Hmm... I have a lot of bulbs I planted pretty deep to evade squirrels that haven't poked up yet. Hopefully only because it's still too cold that far down.

Looks like our magnolia tree's blooms will be browned out again this year. It only manages to pull off a between-freeze bloom about every other year.

I checked it again with a digital thermometer and I guess something has happened to our long probe thermometer because the digital read 63 degrees which is very close to what the weather service I use said for soil temps around here.
