Pictures from the duck pond at the park

Took a walk around McKinley Park yesterday. I love the duck pond down there, but there isn't much new and interesting this time of year - just a bunch of boring ducks and canada geese. But there are some Wood Ducks and the turtle population has exploded in the last two years.

Cute little turtle

Saw plenty of female Wood Ducks but not any of the colorful males

ah... here's one napping in the shade...

had to make a noise to get his attention...

I love wood ducks. We lost ours at our urban park, unfortunately, and none have moved in to take his place.

Just noticed the wire fence/mesh. Is this to keep the plants from becoming dinner?

Very nice.
I haven't gotten out to shoot as much as I've wanted this year. And Summer's almost gone already!

That one with the reflection of the duck's head is an *awesome* shot!

I never noticed. They just did a big cleaning and perhaps they wanted the new plants to have a chance to get established.
