Cook with a bean pot?

This one's glazed ceramic (a "vintage" Pfaltzgraff, came with no directions ...) My understanding is that it's essentially a Crock-Pot sans heat source.

I don't think we'd be trying it on the stove. Do you put it in the oven before turning on the heat, or can you put it in a preheated oven without cracking?

It can go in a preheated oven, up to 350 degrees, though usually you bake beans at about 300 degrees, maybe 325 if you're in a hurry.

Good to know. Gonna try this one tomorrow: [leitesculinaria.com] I like that it's not tomato based; I can do it my CI dutch oven later if I want.

And the cider fits with today's activity. Hasn't quite cracked 50 degrees yet. Going apple picking today, not sure which location. Haven't done that since I was a kid.

My Mom used to have a counter/table top oven that I think would have been a typical method of heating that pot. This is the modern version.
