iPhoto on iOS 8 - DOA

If you have the iOS iPhoto app and have upgraded to iOS 8, try launching iPhoto.

That's right, no longer supported or compatible on/with iOS 8.

You get the option to migrate photos that you have in iPhoto to the Photos app, but apparently, any "special" albums you created in iPhoto are only migrated as "regular" albums in Photos.

Is it just me, or is photo management on iOS/MacOS somewhat confusing?

My iPhoto app has been sitting unused in a folder for a couple years. Guess I won't start using it now.

Media management in general has not been Apple's strong suit for some years now.

Pinkoos,

Photo management is as easy or difficult as someone wants to make it. If you think it's bad on the Mac and iOS, it's even worse under Windows and the iOS. My wife wanted a Windows machine way back when she purchased her last computer and managing photos on it is a pain in the butt, especially if you want to sync photos to an iOS device.

I don't like that the album where you could find all your photos is now called recent and mine only has 29 photos.

Now the rest is segregated by date. More work for me.

Apple has announced a new system, but even that is not ready.

I'm absolultely sure the Big Plan was to release a new app with iOS8.

Just survive for now, hope for a Real Solution in the next 6 months.

Yosemite is in open beta, so you could get it if you want it that badly. Apple does warn people not to install Yosemite on production-critical and business systems.

Apple's changes to how iOS8 on the iPhone handles photos really sucks. I can't post pics older than 30 days to Facebook or Instagram now. It only allows me to post photos more recent than 30 days. I tried creating a new album on my phone for the older photos, but it doesn't show up when I try posting a photo to Facebook or Instagram.
