eBay to see how I'm doing
BBC for news
Guardian - first for the crossword and then news
A VW T25 (Vanagon) enthusiast site
A small F1 fan site
Eastern Daily Press for more local news

The above as well as MR are permanently open tabs.

I don't do Facebook and my mail all comes in to Mail so no web site.

BBC News
SFGate (local news and events)
Al Jazeera
Macrumors
sawmillcreek.org (woodworking site)
a couple of bike and vintage car sites
craigslist
Several scientific sites on risk assessment and geology that would be meaningless to nonscientists
I don't use web-based email.

Don't know about every day since I get many of the sites below as feeds:
Woot
Michael Tsai's blog -- [mjtsai.com]
OSNews -- [www.osnews.com]
Engadget -- [www.engadget.com]
Tenkar's Tavern (cranky guy doing RPG stuff) -- [www.tenkarstavern.com]
ArsTechnica

There's plenty more, but I wiped my feeds and haven't reloaded from the backup yet. Sorry.

I follow news sites on FB and Twitter, and visit web pages when I want to read an article which was a link on FB or Twitter. So aside from MR, no regular web sites.

I'm curious about those of you who list no news sites amongst your dailies. How do you get news about the world (or perhaps you don't want to)?I feel that I would have no idea what was happening in the world without checking it daily. IMHO, US TV news is not a trustworthy, nor a complete, source of information, so I figure the only way to get valid information is through a range of internet sites.

Flyertalk
GoogleNews
Three local newspapers
NYT
Blackboard (my college course management system)
Gawker
The New Yorker
Delta

There are many more that I usually visit every day, but these are the ones I cycle through regardless of what's going on during the day.

Should have asked-- do any of these have an element of community/connectedness?

Can you give an example? I, and I'd guess others, didn't list any local community sites since they are of no interest to those in outside areas.

[slashdot.org] (it's still fun)

[forums.macresource.com] (my number one site)

[www.reddit.com] (I enjoy the forums. Hifi, abandoned exploration, pics, etc)

comics, I have a selection

[thegardenisland.com] (only for the local news)

[facebook.com]

Black, all of my community information comes via Facebook pages. It's quite good for that. Davester, I am not interested in global or even state level news.

Facebook was a daily, but not now.
Almost all e-mail is not web based.

That's probably all that I hit daily- although I get on the NCBI BLAST and PubMed site often, it's not quite daily.

Not every day. Some of us are older and need a day of rest. Some of us have jobs and have no time. And some of us are just older AND have jobs.
