Dated 1-8 unopened fully cooked Applewood ham.

Can you freeze these? I wanted to bake it with a glaze and forgot about it

1-8 of what year?
This year? Good to go!
Yes, you can freeze it (I would suggest refrigerator thawing at the other end of its cryosleep..)

I think she's talking about January of the year 8. I think even Paul F might be a little leery of something more than 2,000 years old.

A cooked vacuum sealed ham should have a use by date on it
a couple extra days unless you keep your fridge extra warm should be no biggee
I'd freeze it and then give it not a lot of extra time to thaw out when needed 3 or 4 months from now

If you are starving. Rotten meat cooked is safer than most other foods that have been opened. Unless you subscribe to the notion of restaurants that that medium rare food tastes better. And is not propaganda to sell you a raw steak to get you served and out the door quicker.

Medium rare does taste better unless it's a crummy piece of meat.

All the more reason to get real country ham, which you can hang un-refrigerated in a dry place for 30 years and safely cook it.

It's already cooked if it is the boars head deli ham in the vac sealed bag.

Yes.... properly salted and cured ham will last a long time. Just cut off the crust and dine.

Or unless he's one of those sick freaks who likes the taste of burned (well done) meat... angry villagers smiley

Should be listed as a diagnosable mental disease... "Likes steak well done". Right between "keeps feces in jars" and "frightened of the color yellow".

Not that I have strong opinions about Medium Rare being the only right way to cook a good steak... grinning smiley

I'll go one further. A good steak MUST be cooked rare. I want to see blood dripping off that thing, dammit!!

IMHO, of course. smiley-shocked003

I'm not inflexible... I can allow as how Rare is acceptable for a good steak, if you can stipulate the same about Medium Rare. As long as in our respective definitions of "perfect" for steak, "Well Done" is intolerable and disgusting. grinning smiley

Ham by definition is ready to eat meat and is not raw pork. And, by "cooked" it could be cured, brined, smoked and/or boiled.

I called the 800 number on a similar ham and was told they are cooked and ready to eat, but some people want to cook them whole in the oven. If you're skittish, just heat it up instead of eating it as is. I have the same situation. I bought 2 since they were 99 cents a pound and didn't have room in the freezers. One had a us by date in February, but I haven't looked at the date for the one still in the fridge.
